Elton John’s Million Dollar Piano show will begin at The Coliseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on September 28, 2011 and will run until 2014. His original engagement, the critically acclaimed The Red Piano was expanded from 75 shows in a three year period to 240 shows over 5 years.
Having spent eight of the last ten years in Las Vegas, John says “[the Palace] is just the perfect place to play. In this show he will be accompanied by a full band and promises “a gargantuan show of imagery and music.”
The Million Dollar Piano show is named for a piano created by Yamaha that was four years in the creating. This piano will be on stage with him at the Coliseum. Well known for his glitz and glamour, this time he replaces glitzy costumes with stage props and video effects while he sings his classic hits surrounded by stage props and videos created by David LaChappelle.
The History of Elton John’s Career
Elton John’s career, spanning 5 decades, has resulted in numerous gold and platinum albums and top 40 hits. He is a top selling solo artist and has the all-time top seller “Candle in the Wind”. He has sold more than 250-million albums. For this show, he will be joined by his band with an appearance by Ray Cooper, the percussionist. Elton and his band are one of the most successful in the business and have put on memorable performances that include lots of audience participation over the years.
