Terry Wayne Fator is a comedian, impressionist, ventriloquist and singer hailing from Mesquite, Texas. He got his first ventriloquist dummy when he was 10 years old and entertained family and friends with not only ventriloquism, but impersonations of actors and singers. Terry bought his first professional ventriloquist dummy when he was 18 years old.
Terry discovered he had the ability to impersonate singers while practicing ventriloquism in the car. One of the reason he learned to sing as a ventriloquist was because he liked to sing in the car. He also noted when he saw others singing in the car they always looked silly and goofy. To avoid looking silly and goofy, Terry learned to sing without moving his lips.
Terry Fator got his start as a musician touring in a band named “Freedom Jam” in 1987-88. The band toured the country performing at over 200 high schools, averaging 3 performances per school day. In 1988, Terry was the lead singer of a band that was about to be signed by a major record label. Terry had incorporated his ventriloquist act into the bands performance and despite its popularity, the record company wanted him to sing in his own voice and drop the ventriloquism. He tried it for a few weeks, but it just did not work for him and gave up the band.
Terry was the winner of Season Two of America’s Got Talent in 2007 and won a prize worth one million dollars. In October of 2007, Terry was signed to perform two shows at the Las Vegas Hilton – the same stage where Elvis Presley performed for many years. The performances were sold out and a third show was added to accommodate ticket requests. Fator was then signed to a contract worth $1.5 million to perform 3 shows a month from January thru May 2008.
Terry Fator Comes to Las Vegas
In May 2008, Terry signed a 5 year; $100 million contract to perform every night at The Mirage in Las Vegas. Terry Fator replaced the late Danny Gans. Terry has recently renewed the contract for an additional 5 years, making it one of the most lucrative entertainment contracts in Las Vegas.
Terry Fator offers a unique kind entertainment experience on the Las Vegas strip. He combines all his talent in one solid, show stopping extravaganza and takes on the likes of Garth Brooks, Cher, Maroon 5 and Elvis Presley in song and comedy. With the help of his vast collection of fabulously talented puppets, Terry will sing and joke his way into your heart for the concert of a lifetime.
He is currently in the third year of his now 10 year contract at The Mirage in Las Vegas performing his “Ventriloquism in Concert” show before sold out crowds with the likes of his very first puppet Walter T. Airedale and his very best puppet friend, Emma Taylor. He is family entertainment at its best and has the ability to keep the crowd laughing in the aisles with his sharp wit and humor, which can be corny at times, and his nonstop puppet concert. The music ranges from Nat King Cole to the Beatle, to Etta James, to Dolly Parton to the Pussycat Dolls and back again and Terry and his cast of puppets perform them all admirably.
Terry has established himself as an icon and main stay on the Vegas Strip and along with his wife as co-host, offers the total entertainment package with something for everyone including – comedy, humor and music.
